*Note that content of Units 1 and 2 will be covered in alternate lessons throughout Year 10 (except term 1) and Year 11, ready for assessment of both units in term 3 of Year 11. Unit 1 is worth 40% and Unit 2 60%.

This course will suit students are interested in or who are considering a career in the Leisure and Tourism industries. In addition to helping students acquire subject knowledge, this course:
  • Allows less exam-orientated students the opportunity to succeed
  • Addresses business and sustainability issues in the world of travel, tourism and leisure
  • Is relevant and of interest to many young people
  • Engages students in a growing industry in the UK and worldwide that has many employment opportunities

This GCSE course also offers more choice with both a two-unit GCSE Award and a four-unit GCSE Double Award available for the first time. The Double Award allows students to explore the subject area in more detail and apply the knowledge they have gained in a real leisure and tourism setting. The course also offers greater flexibility with a choice of topics and case studies so you can tailor the course to your interests. Controlled assessment makes up 60% of the final mark and allows less exam-orientated pupils the opportunity to succeed.
