What is the course about?

Students study the GCSE OCR specification in ICT. Students will study hardware and software, ICT communication and e-safety, databases, spreadsheets, legal and ethical consideration of the use of ICT. The study of these units will cumulate in a written examination worth 20% of the overall mark.


Students will also complete a piece of controlled assessment examining a real-life scenario, modelling a solution using spreadsheet and database software. This section is worth 30% of the overall mark.


A second piece of controlled assessment, worth 30% of the overall mark, focuses on a piece of multimedia presentation resulting in either a website or computer game design.


The final 20% of the overall mark will involve the study of a case study examining current and emerging technologies.
