The Trust has adopted Suffolk County Council’s admissions policy for community and voluntary controlled schools for Alde Valley Academy for its school admissions.

The academy is open to children from Leiston and its surrounding areas, is non-selective and co-educational. Full admission details, including over-subscriptions and the appeal process can be found in the Admissions Policy which is available on the policies page.

Students are admitted at the start of, and during, two main stages:

  • Secondary Year 7 (age 11)

Published admission numbers:

  • 900 full time places – Years 7 to 11

Apply for a Place at Alde Valley Academy

Year 7 Admissions

Alde Valley Academy is part of the co-ordinated admissions arrangements operated by Suffolk County Council and the Local Fair Access Protocol. For Year 7 admissions the Council will co-ordinate admissions, allocate places to the academy and inform families. Parents should apply using Suffolk County Council’s schools admission process and are not required to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) to apply for a place.

In-Year Admissions

For children wishing to move to the academy during the academic year, or outside of the normal transfer phase (Year 7) these are known as ‘In-Year’ admissions. In-Year applications must now be made directly to the academy. The academy uses the AM1 In-Year Applications form and parents are not required to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF). The AM1 form can be requested from the school or downloaded here.

Once completed this must be returned directly to the school.

The academy will then liaise directly with parents and the Local Authority as required. Parents will have the right to appeal a decision should their child be refused a place.
