Friday 24th March saw Alde Valley Academy taking part in the 2017 UK wide Red Nose Day, the charity raises money to go towards making a difference to the lives of thousands of people across Africa and the UK who are facing terrible injustice or living in desperate poverty.
The day began with students and staff wearing non uniform and/or something red for a donation of £1 followed by a bake sale organised by some of our Year 8 students who stayed after school the day before to make several dozen cakes and biscuits which raised over £40. At lunchtime most of the school had bought their tickets for 50p and made their way to the hall excitedly for the talent show organised by our sixth form students. There were several acts including singing, dancing and musical performances including our principal-Mr Wilson-on the ukelele! The talent was astounding and our honorary judges gave a score of 1-10 for each act. Congratulations to the winning act, the all singing-all dancing Emilee and Megan whose breathtaking performance achieved an almost perfect score.
Well done to all the students and staff who worked hard to raise over £500 in one day!
