Year 10 Become Entrepreneurs For The Day

Our Year 10 cohort had an industrious day last Friday thanks to Mrs Pat Trimmer, Young Enterprise Manager for Suffolk, who came in to the Academy to deliver the Young Enterprise Programme.

The business oriented programme consists of showing students how to consider the types of roles in small companies and an insight into how business works while helping to develop their employability skills.

Throughout the day students worked in teams of five or six to produce a presentation showcasing all aspects of their business plan with some groups even choosing to work through their lunch break! A fantastic array of ideas were presented ranging from pet supplies to childcare provision with teams being judged on ‘Marketing’, ‘Innovation’, ‘Teamwork’ and ‘Elevator Pitch’. Certificates and prizes were awarded by Mrs Trimmer after careful consideration by herself and Mrs Doe: ‘Lazy Latte Lounge’ (Dylan, Lauren, Kevin, Lucy, David and Megan) were the overall winners of  ‘The New Business of the Year’ after scoring highly in each category and also receiving the ‘Teamwork’ award. Other teams to receive awards were ‘The Ocean Tide’ (Kiera, Bradley, Hebe, Aidan, Lily and Tobias) for ‘Marketing’; ‘The Jungle’ (Mumin, Teodora, Macauley, Megan, Niall and Jennifer) for ‘Innovation’; ‘Shining Stars’ (Kieran, Ryan, Maizey, Oscar, Edward and Mollie) for ‘Elevator Pitch’.

Congratulations to all the winners and well done to Year 10 for a very productive day of working hard to learn the skills needed to pursue a successful business career in the future.
