We’re working with Leiston Primary to improve outcomes for our local children

We’re working with Leiston Primary School to ensure our local children receive the best opportunities for their future and improve the educational standards in the town.

We have developed a partnership where we share the same values and vision so that each child will receive a consistent educational journey from reception, right up to Year 11, in a transformational bid to re-generate the town.

At Leiston Primary, the school has gone from strength to strength, with standards rising every year, and the children now enjoy challenging lessons as well as a wide variety of activities and events to enrich the curriculum.

Cheryl Singleton and Joanne Stanley-Bell, Executive Principals of Avocet Academy Trust, of which Leiston Primary is part of said: “Our aim was to provide a safe, stimulating and exciting environment for the children where they know the expectations made of them and most importantly where they can grow a love of learning. It has been a privilege to be part of that journey and the children and staff have continually risen to the challenges provided.

“We feel passionately that Leiston children deserve the best education and we will continue to do our best as a team to deliver this. Parents have been incredibly supportive and the children are reaping the rewards. We are delighted to hear that the Alde Valley Academy has performed so well this year and we look forward to working more with them to ensure that our joint aim of top quality education for the town continues to be realised.”

We celebrated significantly improved GCSE results this summer with sixty-eight percent (68%) of students achieving A* – C grades in English and Maths – a “staggering” thirty percent (30%) improvement from last year, making us the most improved school in East Anglia – a pledge which was made by the our new Executive Principal, Mr Jeremy Rowe in June. In addition to these “transformational” results, sixty per cent (60%) of students gained five or more A* – C grades (including English and Maths) which is a twenty-three per cent (23%) increase from 2015.

Mr Michael Wilson, our Principal said: “I am incredibly excited for the future of Leiston. Our recent results here at Alde Valley Academy, coupled with our new leadership team, which has a strong reputation of improving schools, and our dedicated and hardworking team of teachers and support staff, means that our school is well on its way to becoming ‘outstanding’.

“We have been working closely with Leiston Primary School to share best practice and give the children opportunities to work with our own students to give them a taste of ‘big school’, preparing them for their future. Its working incredibly well and we’re delighted with the results so far.”

In June 2016, our Executive Principal, Mr Jeremy Rowe pledged that he would “make it the most improved school in the county by August 2016”, and today he added: “I am delighted to be able to say we have fulfilled our promise to the local community and I am positive that Alde Valley Academy will now be seen as the academic school of choice in the area.”
