Alde Valley uniforms head to Africa

At the beginning of the school term Alde Valley Academy found themselves with an excess of second hand school uniform. The academy converted to a Bright Tribe Academy in January and to celebrate, a new uniform was released for the start of the Academic  term. This meant that the old uniform was no longer needed.

The Academy contacted, EducAid to see if they could make use of the uniform. EducAid runs a network of free schools in Sierra Leone, West Africa. They are a UK registered charity that promotes and provides an education among the underprivileged and war affected young people of Sierra Leone.

The Academy made contact with EducAid to see if they could make use of the old uniforms and the answer was YES!

During the half term break Academy staff handed over 400 items of clothing from polo shirts, jumpers, coats and bags. These were collected by the charity’s representative Lloyd Igunbor whose job it is to see these items packed into a container which then be loaded onto a vessel heading to West Africa.

The Academy looks forward to forming strong links with the charity and seeing its old uniform put to good use.
