Speedway Visitor

Year 7 pupils got an
unexpected surprise at the start of their PE lesson when fellow Year 9 pupil
and budding Speedway star, Macauley Leek, turned up in his leathers with his
bike to talk about his career and answer questions.

Having
first got on a Speedway bike at the age of 3, he talked about the commitment
and dedication required to be successful, as well as his numerous injuries
including three broken collar bones and concussion. Speedway has taken Macauley
all around the country from Hertfordshire to Cumbria, as well trips to compete
in Poland.

Macauley
is currently third in the Under 15 British Championship after three rounds and
despite being just 14 years old has already been approached by clubs such as
Mildenhall, Rye House & Scunthorpe.

After
firing up his 500cc bike, providing opportunities for photos and answering
questions from other pupils, Macauley drew his presentation to a close to
rapturous applause.
