Forthcoming changes at Alde Valley School

18th March 2014

Dear Parents and Carers,

Forthcoming changes at Alde Valley School

Our Headteacher, Mr ran Flintoff, has decided, after a long career in teaching, to retire at the end of this school year. We thank him for steering the school through all the changes that have been demanded of the school in the last few years.

The governors are now beginning the process of recruiting a successor who will be able to build on Mr Flintoff’s achievements, and lead the school in the future.

We shall be holding interviews next term, but it is unlikely that a successful candidate will be free to take up the appointment before January of next year. We believe that the stability of the school will be best served by continuity, and so we have asked our Deputy Head, Miss Emma Laflin, to be Acting Headteacher from 1st September, and we thank her for her commitment to the school

There will be quite a few changes in September, as Mr Flintoff is not the only person who will be retiring. We will be very busy next term recruiting new staff as there will be four retirements, and a few other people leaving the school. Four are moving to other parts of the country, while two have gained promotions. We are always pleased to hear that teachers have obtained promotions, even though it does mean we lose them to another school.

So, all in all a busy time ahead for the school and the governors, but I should like to take this opportunity to reassure you all that as governors we shall do our best to provide your children with a good educational experience, both now and in the future

Yours truly,
Elizabeth Rushbrook
